Clinical Psychologist
Dr. Joi Burnham, PsyD
Dr. Burnham is a licensed clinical psychologist who works with young adults and adults navigating anxiety, life transitions, relationship concerns, identity development, and neurodivergence. She is passionate about supporting individuals from BIPOC communities, LGBTQ+ individuals, and neurodivergent adults in feeling seen, respected, and empowered to explore both their challenges and their strengths.
Dr. Burnham takes a strengths-based, interpersonal-relational approach to therapy, periodically incorporating CBT and ACT techniques to help clients build greater self-awareness, self-compassion, and authenticity as they work toward lives and relationships that feel more connected and aligned with their values.
At Recover, Dr. Burnham serves as a Clinical Psychologist, reviewing evaluations and assessments to ensure clients receive accurate diagnoses and the accommodations they need to reach their full potential.
Dr. Burnham earned her Master’s and Doctorate in Clinical Psychology from Spalding University and holds a bachelor’s and master’s degree in psychology from North Carolina Central University, a Historically Black College and University. She completed her predoctoral internship at George Washington University’s Counseling and Psychological Services.
Outside of work, Dr. Burnham loves traveling to new places, trying new foods, spending time at the beach, and learning about history and different cultures along the way.
